Happy November: the month of gratitude. I am grateful to our parent volunteers and PTA members. Thanks for making Stewart a special place!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! It was fun to see the children (and teachers!) in costume at the first annual Stewart Halloween parade. Minions and witches and Swifties, oh my! The season was also made special by the parents who helped with Halloween crafts during the last week of October. Thank you!
The outside of Stewart is fall-festive thanks to the Stewart Beautification Committee, led by Catherine Griffing. The Stewart sign and main entrances look fantastic! The committee will next tackle the winter holidays. A Sign Up Genius will go out shortly with requests for donations. Please email stewart@gardencitypta.org if you would like to help decorate.
The first Stewart PTA meeting of the year was held on October 10 and was a success. Thank you to the parents who attended in person and virtually. It was nice to hear more about the Stewart Steps to Success program, and all of the exciting updates from our active PTA committees.
October brought many celebrations at Stewart, including Unity Day and Red Ribbon Week. Pretzel Wednesdays and Pizza Fridays also returned, to the delight of students and parents alike! While these programs are morning time-savers and treats for the kids, they are also part of the Stewart Service Learning curriculum, raising awareness and funds for causes chosen by students. This month, Stewart School is collecting surplus Halloween candy for our military through Treats for Troops and non-perishable food items for Healthy Harvest. Both collections will go through the first week of November. Thank you in advance for your generosity to both causes!
The National PTA Reflections contest will close on November 5. There is a drop box in the rotunda outside the gym for all submissions. The theme this year is “Accepting Imperfection.” See the PTA website for contest information and entry form. All students who participate in Reflections will receive a homework pass! Thank you to our Reflections chairs, Cara Parisi and Angela Trustey, for all your help!
The First Annual Stewart Turkey Trot is scheduled for Monday, November 25, with a rain date of Tuesday, November 26. Stay tuned for more information about this event, sponsored by the Stewart Family Fun committee. It promises to be a great event!
Finally, assembly day for the Stewart Holiday Craft Fair will take place on Friday, December 6. Class parents will send a Sign Up Genius requesting craft materials and contributions, as well as information on how to participate on assembly day. Thank you in advance for your time and generosity. Shout out to this year’s chairs, Jennie Fromkin and Gemma Deveney, for all your hard work on this special project. We appreciate you!
Best wishes for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving to you and your families!
