Stewart February Newsletter
Happy February! We all know by now that the groundhog saw his shadow but that doesn’t mean we don’t have some exciting things happening this month at Stewart School!
I’d like to begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks to the Stewart community for your overwhelming support of The INN in Hempstead during our Holiday Craft Fair in December. Together, we raised $709 to support families and individuals on Long Island who are poverty stricken and food insecure. A big thank you to both Gemma Deveney and Jennifer Fromkin for organizing this event again this year. If you have any interest in helping chair next year’s Craft Fair committee please let us know!
Another important part of our service learning curriculum, Pretzels and Pizza for a Purpose, is back in full swing!
Thank you to the Stewart Health and Safety Committee, led by Andrea Baglio for updating and organizing our indoor recess bins. The weather has been less than ideal, so thank you to all the Stewart families that donated games and crafts for the kids to use during indoor recess.
Looking ahead, our next PTA meeting will be an All-Schools meeting on Tuesday February 10, 2026 at 7:30pm at the Garden City Middle School. Please plan to attend as we come together as a community to discuss important issues and an in person vote.
A big congratulations to all the Stewart 5th graders on their wonderful production of Lion King Jr. The months of rehearsals paid off and words cannot express how amazing each and every one of them were on stage. Let’s wish our Stratford friends good luck as they prepare for their show, Frozen Jr., to go live this week!
Finally, with spring on the horizon, we are looking forward to several special events. First, our annual PTA fundraising dinner will be held at the Garden City Hotel on March 31, 2026. This year’s theme will be “I Belong- Just As I Am.” Tickets will go on sale shortly after February break, so be sure to get yours before they sell out! We are also beginning to plan for the Stewart Staff Appreciation luncheon on May 7th and our Third Annual Stewart Family Carnival will happen this June. If you are interested in helping with either of these events, please reach out to me at stewart@gardencitypta.org
