Welcome back, Stewart families! I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and is having a wonderful start to the school year.  For those of you that do not know me I am Ali Calame the new Stewart School PTA Director.  I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you over the past week and I look forward to meeting more parents as the school year continues.  

First, thank you to those who have volunteered to serve as class parents. We had a wonderful kick off meeting and you should have already heard from your class parents.  If you are looking for other ways to get involved at school, there are plenty of openings on our Stewart committees.  Email me at stewart@gardencitypta.org to learn what opportunities are available. 

Please remember to join the GC PTA for the 2026-27 year.  Once-yearly membership covers all of your children in all seven schools.  Visit the PTA website to join today!  While you’re at it, join our sister organization SEPTA as well.  Everyone benefits when we work together.

We have hit the ground running this September, so please mark these special events on your calendar: 

Back to School Night (BTSN) is on Wednesday, September 9, beginning at 6:30 PM. You should have received a parent square communication with all the information about BTSN.  At BTSN you will meet your child’s teacher, learn about grade curriculum and learning standards, and discuss expectations for the upcoming year.  You will also have the chance to sign up for class crafts, volunteer for PTA committees, and purchase sportswear. 

Spirit Week is coming up the week of Monday, September 14.  Each day of the week will be celebrated with a special theme.  The spirit week calendar will be sent home in the coming days.   Friday, September 18 is Spirit Day, and special T-shirts are available for purchase.  To order your shirts visit The Macwear Team Store, select the GC Spirit Day icon, use password GCspirit2026 (case sensitive), and select your child’s size.  Be sure to input your child’s name, teacher name, and school to ensure a successful in-school delivery.  The deadline for Spirit Day T-shirt orders is 9/8 at 11:59pm

Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday,  September 23rd.  More information about Photo Day will be sent out soon.  This important fundraiser supports PTA programs in all of our schools.

Finally, mark your calendars for our first Stewart School PTA meeting on October 8th at 9:30am at Stewart School. We encourage all parents to come to this first meeting where you will get to hear about all the events we have planned for the year, as well as learn about all of the PTA committees you can join.
