The last month of the school year is upon us, and it’s a busy one as we celebrate another successful year at Stewart School.
This past Tuesday, June 3, was SCOPE Science Day at Stewart School. The fifth graders from Stewart and Stratford came together to participate in fun, science-based activities together. Thank you to the districtwide PTA Health and Safety Committee, led by Shawn Cohen and Victoria Diaz, for organizing the Bike Safety Rodeo at the event.
This Friday, June 6, is Field Day for grades 2, 3, and 4. (Rain date is Monday, June 9.) All parents are invited! Please check communications from your classroom teacher and/or class parents for your grade’s time, as well as your class color. Fifth Grade Field Day will take place on Tuesday June 10. (Rain date is Wednesday, June 11.) Maroon or Gray… who will come out on top this year?
The annual Stewart/Stratford Fifth Grade Pool Party will be held at the Garden City Pool on Wednesday, June 18. Please note that this date differs from the one printed on the school calendar. The new rain date is Monday, June 23. The Fifth Grade Pool Party is for students only. We’re so excited for our fifth graders to have fun in the sun as one big class!
Also on Wednesday, June 18, the Family Fun committee will host our second annual Stewart Family Fun Carnival on the Stewart Fields. The event promises to be a blast, with games, snacks, prizes, and fun for all! Second and third graders and their families are invited to participate from 3:45-4:45 p.m.; fourth and fifth graders and their families may attend from 5-6 p.m. Please click on the Sign Up Genius link HERE to donate snacks, supplies, or volunteer to work at one of our carnival booths. We need MANY parent volunteers to make the event a success. Please be generous with your time and talents!
Just a reminder that school will be closed on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Then, on Friday, June 20, the PTA is sponsoring the Kool Kat Ice Cream truck to come to school and dish out delicious treats to all of our students and staff! What a sweet way to top off the school year.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge our fifth graders, who are soaring from Stewart School. Whether you are going to the Garden City Middle School or moving on to another school, you will always be an important part of the Stewart School community, and the PTA wishes you luck as you begin your next chapter.
My time as Stewart Director is coming to a close, so I’d like to take a moment to thank every grade rep, class parent, committee chair, and parent volunteer who generously donated their time and talents this year to help the PTA support every child at Stewart School. I was truly honored to serve as your Stewart Director. Please join me in welcoming Ali Calame into this role. I know she will do an amazing job!
