February is a short month, made even shorter with the winter recess; therefore, this is a short newsletter!
Thank you to everyone who attended our joint elementary PTA meeting with Stratford School on January 17 over Zoom. We had great attendance and learned a lot from Mr. Davola and Ms. Lavelle about internet safety and expectations for elementary students. For those who could not attend, a link to the presentation is available here. Our next PTA meeting will be an All-Schools meeting on February 15 at 7:30 pm at the Garden City Middle School. Please plan to attend, as we will vote on three grant requests and elect this year’s PTA Nominating Committee.
Thank you to those who attended Parent University. This annual tradition was held at the Garden City High School on January 24, and included over a dozen workshops for parents of students of all ages. We hope everyone walked away having learned something new and interesting! Thank you to the Parent University committee for putting on an amazing event.
Congratulations to our Stewart students who participated in the All-County chorus, band, and orchestra concert at the Tilles Center on January 7. You made beautiful music with participants throughout Nassau County and proudly represented Stewart School and Garden City! Also, kudos to third-grader Aurora Curtin, whose dance submission for PTA Reflections has advanced to the NYS PTA contest. We are so proud of you!
Looking ahead, the Stewart Fifth Grade production of Willy Wonka Kids will take place on Wednesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 8. After months of hard work and practice, it’s hard to believe that the show is finally here. We wish you all the best of luck. You will be amazing!
The PARP committee has planned two events for the month of February: PARP Pen-pals and a visit to the Garden City Public Library on Tuesday, February 6 for a special reading of the book, “The Invisible String” by Patrice Karst. See the PARP page on the PTA website for more details.
Finally, with spring just around the corner, we have two special events to look forward to. The annual PTA fundraising dinner will once again be held at the Garden City Hotel on Wednesday, April 3. Tickets will go on sale shortly, so be sure to get yours before it sells out! We are also beginning to plan for the Stewart Staff Appreciation luncheon on Thursday, May 9. If you are interested in helping us recognize our amazing teachers and staff at Stewart School, please reach out to me at email@example.com
Thanks for your continued support, and enjoy the upcoming Winter Recess!
