Happy May! I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break. We look forward to a month of sunshine and outdoor recess!
Locust sure looks ready for the spring! Thank you to our Beautification Committee led by Kristin George and Lindsay Weber. The committee added lovely floral touches, wreathes, spring critters and wind pinwheels to the front of Locust. It is a beautiful and happy welcoming for the students each day.
On May 2nd the PTA hosted the Annual Locust Staff Appreciation Luncheon for the amazing teachers and staff. This year the theme was “Teachers Make the World Go ‘Round”. It’s such a wonderful way to show the Locust staff our appreciation for all of their hard work. Thank you to our GCPTA Staff Appreciation chairs, Gina Donovan & Alison Volpe, for organizing the lunches across all 7 schools. The luncheon would not be possible without all the generous donations from all of our parents. A big thank you to all of you!
The Spring Sing is around the corner! It will be held on Tuesday, May 13th for both Kindergarten and First Grade. This is always a favorite among both students and families. Dress your child in their best spring attire and be ready to take some pictures! Thank you to Mrs. Glickman for her hard work and preparation. Please remember to bring your ID for entry. Each class will have a small celebration in their classrooms following their performance. This celebration will be approximately 20 minutes long. TWO ADULT GUESTS PER FAMILY are allowed to go back to the classroom to complete a spring craft with the students.
Please also note: Mrs. Vota sent out an important ParentSquare message announcing that Kindergarten Celebration of Learning has been moved to June 13th from 11-11:30am. (This replaces the original date of June 5th on the district calendar.)
The Board of Education Election & Budget Vote will be held on Tuesday, May 20th from 6am-9pm @ GCHS. The PTA supports voting “Yes!” for the budget. Please see the main PTA newsletter for more information about the upcoming vote.
Please look out for Field Day SUGs that will be coming out soon!
If you have not done so already, please remember to register your child for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year!
Sincerely,
Lauren Ryan
