Happy November! I know it has felt like summer a few days this past month but we are well into Fall! I hope you have been enjoying this beautiful season. Thanksgiving will be here soon and it is a perfect time to reflect on all the things we are grateful for. I know we are all especially grateful for our children at Locust and all of the wonderful things they will learn and experience during their time at school. We are also incredibly thankful for the dedicated, amazing teachers and staff at Locust.
The fourth annual Fall Festival was a huge success. The Family Fun Committee worked so hard to put together a fun morning for our children. Thanks to our wonderful Family Fun Committee Chair, Jillian Breusch, and the entire Family Fun Committee for staging a wonderful event for our Locust families! Thank you also to all the families who donated funds for this year’s pumpkin decorating. Your generosity is appreciated! The StoryBook Character Parade was so adorable and the children really enjoyed seeing everyone in their costumes.
Hopefully while attending the Fall Festival, you were able to admire our beautiful fall decor! Lindsay Weber and Kristin George, Beautification Committee Co-Chairs, and the committee did a fantastic job decorating Locust for Fall. We couldn’t have done it without the generous donations from our families. Thank you! Next up for the Beautification Committee’s agenda: Winter decorations!
Thanks to all the Locust students who submitted entries for the PTA’s annual Reflections Contest. Jax Curtin, Reflections Chair, worked hard to get the word out and created a special box in Locust’s lobby for submissions.
Photo Make-Up Day is November 15th. We are very thankful to our district-wide Photography Chair, Stephanie Cohen. Thank you also to Maria Oliveri for chairing the Locust photo committee and to the parent volunteers for helping photo day run smoothly. To any parents who purchased photos and supported our PTA and schools, we thank you!
For those who purchased fall Sportswear, the pick up will be Saturday, November 16th from 9AM-12PM at the Middle School. Thank you to our dedicated Sportswear Committee and everyone who supported this fundraiser.
Thanks to all those who attended our first Locust PTA meeting. We had a nice turnout, heard important updates from our committee chairs and Principal Vota gave an informative overview of resources available to parents on the GCUFSD’s website. We will be holding our Joint Primary PTA Meeting on Tuesday, November 19th at 9:30AM at Hemlock School. Be on the lookout for more information in your inbox.
Attention First Grade Parents: The Locust Memory Book is underway. Please send pictures to Locustmemorybook2425@gmail.com throughout the year as you visit Locust for their events. Pictures can be from field trips, concerts, craft days etc. When sending pictures, please make sure there are at least three Locust students in each picture to ensure every child has a chance to be featured. In the subject line, please write the teacher's name followed by the event name.
Our Health & Safety Committee, led by Victoria Diaz, is working on indoor recess bins for our students. These are especially important during the cold winter months. Please look out for SUG links that will be sent out for donations.
As always, if you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with the PTA, please feel free to reach out to me or your class parents at any time. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!
Sincerely,
Lauren Ryan
