Locust School Newsletter May 2026
Happy May! I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break. We look forward to a month of sunshine and outdoor recess. There are a lot of fun events for the children going on this month!
Locust sure looks ready for the spring! Thank you to our Beautification Committee led by Kristin George and Lindsay Weber. The committee added lovely floral touches, wreathes, spring critters and wind pinwheels to the front of Locust. It is a beautiful and happy welcoming for the students each day.
The children will be celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a birthday party in the multi purpose room! There will even be high school students dressed as historical figures for them to meet! This will take place on Monday, May 18th, and will surely be a fun and educational event for them.
The Spring Sing is around the corner! It will be held on Tuesday, May 19th for both Kindergarten and First Grade. This is always a favorite among both students and families. Dress your child in their best spring attire and be ready to take some pictures! Thank you to Mrs. Glickman for her hard work and preparation.
Please remember to bring your ID for entry. Each class will have a small celebration in their classrooms following their performance. This celebration will be approximately 20 minutes long. TWO ADULT GUESTS PER FAMILY are allowed to go back to the classroom to complete a spring craft with the students.
We will be having our Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, May 21st (this is a date change) to celebrate all of the wonderful teachers and staff at Locust. Please look out for a SignUpGenius that will have ways you can support the luncheon. Thank you in advance!
Again, please look out for Staff Appreciation and Field Day SUGs that will be coming out soon!
If you have not done so already, please remember to register your child for Kindergarten for the 2026-2027
school year!
Sincerely,
Lauren Ryan
Locust PTA Director
