Locust December Newsletter 2025
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a few days of rest. Locust had a fantastic month of November. The 1st Graders participated in a service learning project; The Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive. New pajamas were donated for children in need. For every set of pajamas donated, Scholastic matches the donation with a brand new book.
The Kindergarteners enjoyed Thanksgiving activities with their teachers and classmates. The First Graders did a Thanksgiving craft and treated their families to a Thanksgiving song and shared what they were thankful for.
The Primary Schools will be holding their Annual Toys for Tots drive. All new, unwrapped toys can be placed in the “Toys for Tots” boxes in the main lobby of Locust. Toys will be collected up until Friday, December 12th.
Locust’s Winter Festival will be held on Tuesday, December 16th. Please save the date! The children have been working hard to prepare and look forward to showcasing their hard work. The First graders will be performing at 9:00AM followed by the Kindergarteners at 10:30AM.
Locust’s Beautification Committee will be taking down all fall decor and will transform the outside of Locust into a Winter Wonderland! Thank you to Co-Chairs Lindsay Weber and Kristin George and the committee for all of their time and effort. This wouldn’t be possible without the continued generosity of our Locust families. Thank you!
The Health & Safety Committee has been working to prepare indoor recess bins for our Kindergarten & First Grade students. These will be especially important during the upcoming winter months. Please look out for an SUG that will be sent for donations to include in these bins.
Attention First Grade Parents: The Locust Memory Book is underway! Please send pictures to
locustmemorybook2526@gmail.com throughout the year as you visit Locust for their events. Pictures can be from field trips, concerts, craft days etc. When sending pictures, please make sure there are at least three Locust students in each picture to ensure every child has a chance to be featured. In the subject line, please write the teacher's name followed by the event name.
From the Garden City PTA, we wish you a joy filled holiday season and a Happy New Year!
