Happy February to our Locust School community! Let us all share our love for one another by (a safe social distant) waving hello as love is in the air! We are just about at the half way mark of the school year, and we have done a fantastic job of keeping our children, families, and Locust community safe during this exceptional school year. We are so thankful for the teachers, faculty and all of the staff for trying to make the day as “normal” as possible.
While the Locust children do go outside whenever the real-feel temperature is 32 degrees or above, there are plenty of days in which they are indoors due to precipitation or chilly temperatures. We are working closely with our Health & Safety Committee to bring some fun activities to the children, and our craft committee have been organizing monthly holiday crafts for Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s Day. The children are also invited to bring in a small recess bag with some items for individual play during their lunch, or perhaps their favorite book to enjoy.
Upcoming Important Events
Looking ahead this month, if you choose to send in Valentine’s Day cards for your child’s class, please make sure any treats are non-edible. They do need to be sent in by Friday, February 5th to allow the cards time to quarantine safely.
The 100th Day of School is approaching on February 24th! Be on the lookout for information coming home with your child how Locust School will be celebrating!
There are quite a few PTA District-Wide initiatives that will be of interest to Primary Parents. I encourage you to review our main PTA Newsletter for information about Parent University and PARP, which both have a variety of events taking place this month! Thank you to the members of these committees for your efforts in bringing these exciting PTA programs to our parents, even in a pandemic. We also encourage all PTA members to attend our next All Schools PTA Meeting at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 10. You can also visit https://gardencitypta.org/ to learn more about these events.
Have you downloaded the Box Tops app yet? Scan your receipts to earn money for Locust! If you have any remaining physical box tops, please feel free to send them in with your child in their backpack the next submission will be March. For more information see https://www.boxtops4education.com.
