Locust February 2026 Newsletter
Happy February, Locust Families! It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the school year.
The third annual Sweetheart Craft will be held on Thursday, February 12th. First Grade will begin at 8:45am and Kindergarten will begin at 9am. Each child is allowed to invite one adult to join them for this sweet craft in their classroom. A flyer has been sent out via Parent Square and look out for more information from your class parents.
Each year the PTA funds a cultural trip for all First graders in the district. This year, the students
from Homestead, Hemlock, and Locust will have the opportunity to see Dr. Seuss’ Magical Adventure in March!
February is Dental Awareness month and Dr. Emma will be visiting Locust at the end of February to speak to the Kindergarten classes once again!
REMINDER! First Grade Parents: The Locust Memory Book is underway! Please send pictures to
locustmemorybook2526@gmail.com throughout the year as you visit Locust for their events. Pictures can be from field trips, concerts, craft days etc. When sending pictures, please make sure there are at least three Locust students in each picture to ensure every child has a chance to be featured. In the subject line, please write the teacher's name followed by the event name.
Save the date for the annual GC PTA Dinner to be held on March 31st at the Garden City Hotel. This year's dinner theme is "I Belong - Just As I Am." Not only is this event always a fun occasion, it generates money the PTA uses to fund many wonderful things in our school community.
If you would like to help the GC PTA by donating an exciting raffle basket prize from your grade, you can submit a suggested $15 donation to your class parent by February 12th. This is an optional donation.
I wish everyone a fun and safe winter break!
Sincerely,
Lauren Ryan
Locust School PTA Director
