Happy December! Locust had such a wonderful month of November! The hallways are beginning to buzz with the magic of the holiday season. The first graders enjoyed their Thanksgiving activities with their teachers, classes, and families.
We had our first Primary School PTA meeting, hosted at Locust, and welcomed Mrs. Ruby Klein, our speech pathologist, who gave an informative presentation about phonemic awareness and how we as parents can support our little learners at home. Ms. Bellovin, along with the other Primary Principals, showed us how one particular math game is used in the classroom to encourage learners to practice their math fluency.
The Beautification Committee will be decorating the outside of Locust with a gingerbread house theme. Thank you to Catherine Griffing for coordinating the efforts. Also, a big thank you to all the families who donated decor or funds to beautify Locust School. This wouldn’t be possible without your continued generosity. Thank you!
Now that December is here, we are very much looking forward to the holiday season ahead! The children have been working hard to prepare for their winter concerts and look forward to showcasing their hard work.
PARP is planning a virtual Polar Express Reading! Details will be forthcoming so be on the lookout for emails and backpack fliers.
Our next Joint Primary PTA Meeting will be on Thursday, March 2 at 9:30 AM at Homestead. We hope you can join us!
From all of us at the Garden City PTA, we wish you a joy filled holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Genevieve Banks
Locust PTA Director
