I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Locust had a fantastic month of November! The Kindergarteners enjoyed Thanksgiving activities with their teachers and classmates. The First Graders treated their families to a Thanksgiving song and shared what they were thankful for.
We had our first Primary School PTA meeting in November, hosted at Homestead, and welcomed Ms. Ruby Klein, our speech pathologist. She gave an informative presentation about phonemic awareness and how we as parents can support our little learners at home. The presentation can be found here. Ms. Klein shares some great resources!
Reflections
Thank you to all of the students who participated in the National PTA Reflections Contest!! Click here to see the winners.
Congratulations to all of you and to all of the 1st & 2nd place winners who will be moving onto the Nassau County level of competition! The awards ceremony will be held in March and we look forward to celebrating these accomplishments.
Locust’s Beautification Committee has taken down all fall decor and will be transforming the outside and interior of Locust into a Winter Wonderland. Thank you to Catherine Griffing and her committee for all of their time and effort. This wouldn’t be possible without the continued generosity of our Locust families. Thank you!
The Health & Safety Committee has been working hard to prepare indoor recess bins for our Kindergarten & First Grade students. These will be especially important during the upcoming winter months. Thank you to all those families who donated to make this possible!
Attention First Grade Families: Please send pictures for the Locust memory book to: Locustmemorybook2024@gmail.com . Pictures can be from field trips, concerts, craft days etc. When sending pictures, please make sure there are at least three Locust students in each picture to ensure every child has a chance to be featured. In the subject line please write the teacher's name followed by the event name. Thanks in advance!
The Primary Schools will be holding their Annual Toys for Tots drive. All new, unwrapped toys can be placed in the “Toys for Tots” boxes in the main lobby. Toys will be collected from December 1-8, 2023.
Locust’s Winter Festival will be held on December 5th. Please save the date! The children have been working hard to prepare and look forward to showcasing their hard work. Please refer to the Parent Square notification sent from Locust as well as the school calendar for details on the date and time of your child’s performance.
From the Garden City PTA, we wish you a joy filled holiday season and a Happy New Year!
