WELCOME TO LOCUST!
Welcome back to school! We are so excited to welcome the Locust children and staff back! We anticipate a wonderful year ahead.
We want to extend a special welcome to our parents and children that are new to the district. The Locust community is so excited to have you! Locust really is an amazing place. Should you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.
We hope you enjoyed the PTA-sponsored balloon arch out front on the first day. Many children participated in our “Chalk The Walk.” The walkways were colorful and welcoming for children on the first day!
Additionally, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Locust teachers, administrators and staff for their tireless efforts in planning for this upcoming school year. They have all worked so hard this summer to think through every last detail of our children’s school experience. We thank them for all the planning they have done to ensure our children’s health, safety, academic and social experiences are as exceptional as ever.
Our PTA mission is as important as ever. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and help out. If you aren’t sure if you have the time to volunteer, be a member first, and a volunteer second. We appreciate each and every one of our members and hope we can achieve 100% participation in the PTA this year. Go to www.gardencitypta.org today to join.

We want to thank all the parents that volunteered to serve as a class parent this year. These parents are such an important liaison between the parents and the PTA. We really appreciate you taking the time to serve in this capacity. For those that were not selected, please apply again next year. Our goal is to give everyone who wants to be a class parent an opportunity to do so during their time at Locust. You will be hearing more from your class parents shortly!
Lastly, we would like to thank all the parents that volunteered for the various Locust Committees. We are so excited to work with all of you and sincerely appreciate all of your help this school year. We would not be able to do all of the wonderful things we have planned without all of your help, creativity, and dedication. Spirit Day 2025 t-shirt sales are now open! To order your child's shirt:
- Visit the MACWEAR Teamstore and select the Garden City Spirit Day icon (the same image as shown in this email).
- Use password GCspirit2025 (case sensitive) to access the sale page
- Select your child's shirt size, input their name, school, and teacher information for successful at-school delivery.
- Complete payment and you're done!
The deadline for all orders is Tuesday, September 11, at 11:59 pm. Don't delay!! Shirts will be delivered to your child’s classroom on/about Thursday, September 18th and should be worn on Districtwide Spirit Day on Friday, September 19th!
