Happy February, Locust Families! It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the school year.
The second annual Sweetheart Craft will be held on Thursday, February 13th. First Grade will begin at 8:45am and Kindergarten will begin at 9am. Each child is allowed to invite one adult to join them for this sweet craft in their classroom. The Family Fun committee is hard at work preparing for the craft! A flyer has been sent out via Parent Square and look out for more information from your class parents.
Each year the PTA funds a cultural trip for all First graders in the district. This year, the students
from Homestead, Hemlock, and Locust will have the opportunity to see The Gruffalo’s Child on Wednesday, February 5th at 10:30am at The Tilles Center.
On Tuesday, February 11th, PARP invites all primary and elementary school families to a virtual visit with author Dennis Matthew at 7pm. He will be reading “How Grizzly Found Gratitude” and students can follow along with their own copy that was gifted to them by the PTA earlier in the school year. Reminder for First Grade Families: Please send pictures for the Locust memory book to:
Locustmemorybook2425@gmail.com. Pictures can be from field trips, concerts, craft days etc. When sending pictures, please make sure there are at least three Locust students in each picture to ensure every child has a chance to be featured. In the subject line please write the teacher's name followed by the event name. Thanks in advance!
Save The Date for our annual PTA Dinner Fundraiser: Wednesday, March 26th. This year's dinner theme is "Ascending to New Heights." Not only is this event always a fun occasion, it generates money the PTA uses to fund many wonderful things in our school community. Thank you to those who donated towards the grade level raffle baskets. We hope you’ll join us for a fun night at the Garden City Hotel. More information on this to come!
I wish everyone a fun and safe winter break!
Sincerely,
Lauren Ryan
