HAPPY DECEMBER HOMESTEAD
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with their families.
Our first Joint Primary PTA meeting of the year is at 9:30AM on Tuesday, December 2nd at Homestead. We hope to see you there where we will learn about the E Pledge and hear committee updates.
This holiday season the Primary Schools will be holding their annual Toys for Tots Drive until Friday, December 12th. Donation bins for new, unwrapped toys can be found in the lobby.
We look forward to seeing all our families at Homestead’s Winter Concerts: Tuesday, December 16th for UPK, Wednesday, December 17th for 1st Grade, and Thursday, December 18th for Kindergarten. The students are excited to showcase their hard work.
COMMITTEE UPDATES
Beautification
The Beautification Committee, led by Lindsey Finneran and Lindsay Loos, are asking for donations to turn the school into a Winter Wonderland. Winter Beautification SUG link. Thank you for helping us make Homestead beautiful and festive!
Sportswear’s holiday popup shop pick up is on Saturday, November 15th @ 9:00AM-11:00AM at the GCMS. Thank you to everyone who purchased holiday goodies!
PARP’s No School Elementary Movie Day featuring Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken on Wednesday, November 26th at the Bellmore Theaters was a hit! Picture of Homestead’s Post-Literacy Activity Winners. Keep an eye out for upcoming events like Spotlight on the Library in January, Reading Week in March, GC Pen Pals in April, Scholastic Book Fair in the spring, and Book Ninjas in June.
Service Learning Project
During the month of November, primary schools had wonderful participation in Scholastic’s 16th Annual Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive. We collected 185 pairs of new pajamas between the three primary schools which Scholastic matched with a brand new book for every pajama. First graders had an assembly on Tuesday, November 25th to explain how their contribution was impactful in helping others. Every student had the opportunity to donate a handmade bookmark as well as make one to take home.
Photo Make-Up Day on Friday, November 14th was successful and pictures should have reached your inbox. If you have 3 or more children in the district, click here to see how you can receive a discount. Any questions or concerns about proofs or photos, please contact the district Photography Chair, Stephanie Cohen, at photography@gardencitypta.com.
Reflections closed out on Wednesday, November 5th and we had a great turn out of submissions for this year’s theme, I Belong! Submissions are currently with judges. Winning entries will be sent to Nassau county and the remaining entries will be returned prior to the winter break. Save the date for our district wide ceremony on Monday, March 23, 2025 at the GCHS.
As always, we appreciate you for being a part of the Homestead family. Always feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss any concerns. Wishing you and your families a wonderful Winter Holiday break. Look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
