Homestead May 2026 Newsletter

HAPPY MAY HOMESTEAD

The school year is on its way to wrapping up and looking toward next year! See below for upcoming highlights for this month.

Student Placement Forms and Orientation

The 2026-2027 Student Placement Forms are due on Friday, May 1st - please check Parent Square for the link. We will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, May 20th for our UPK (@ 11:45AM) and Kindergarten (@ 12:00PM) students in time for our Incoming Kindergarten Orientation @ 1:15PM. 

Stratford’s Incoming 2nd Graders will have Orientation on Monday, May 18th @ 6:30PM for parents only and Friday, May 29th @ 9:30AM for students only.

PTA & BOE Budget Vote

Please join us at 7:30PM on Wednesday, May 6th for our All Schools PTA Meeting & Vote at the GC Middle School. You will have a chance to win an unclaimed PTA Dinner raffle basket! 

The district will also hold the Budget Vote on Tuesday, May 19th @ 6:00AM-9:00PM at the GC High School. The BOE Meeting will be held the same day at the high school @ 7:30PM.

Celebrations

Thank you to everyone who donated for our upcoming PTA Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, May 12th. It’s a true celebration of our teachers and staff for all the amazing work they do the entire year. 

It’s starting to feel like spring and the students are excited for our upcoming Spring Sing performances: 1st Graders on Wednesday, May 13th and Kindergarteners on Thursday, May 14th - check your class calendar for your child’s performance time.

The AP High School students will be visiting all the primary schools and holding a birthday party in celebration of America’s 250th on Thursday, May 21st by presenting themselves as a living wax museum and providing goodie bags to our students. Thank you so much to Victoria Buonpane, Coordinator of Social Studies and World Languages, for this fun and educational opportunity!

Our 1st Graders will be hosting special Mother’s Day Celebrations in their classrooms - check your class calendar for your time and day.

Next month will be filled with more End of the Year celebrations - check your class calendar for your save the date!

COMMITTEE UPDATES

Arts in Ed

The students had a wonderful and interactive assembly with Heather Forrest from Story Arts on Thursday, April 24th. Thank you to Arts in Ed for this thoughtful programming.

Family Fun

It was lovely to see all the families join us for our Spring Family Fun event with an egg-citing fossil exhibit and fossil making with our students and CSTL on Monday, April 20th. Special thank you to our Family Fun Committee Chairs, Daniela Saka and Nicole Barrese, and all our volunteers for helping make special memories at Homestead. (Class Parents sent out photo links)

Beautification

Spring has finally blossomed over at Homestead. Thank you to our Beautification Committee, led by Lindsay Loos and Lindsey Finneran, for decorating the main and side entrance for the season. (PHOTOS) We appreciate everyone donating to make Homestead beautiful throughout the year.
