HAPPY FEBRUARY HOMESTEAD

It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the school year! Despite being the shortest month, February is packed with engaging events for our students.

First Grade students will visit Stratford School on Monday, February 2nd, to see the musical Frozen Jr., performed by the Fifth Graders. Kindergarten and First Grade students are also invited to see a Lion Danceperformance, courtesy of Arts in Ed, at Stewart School on Wednesday, February 4th.

UPK Lottery announcements will be emailed by 4:00PM on Wednesday, February 4th.

We hope to see you at the upcoming All Schools PTA meeting at 7:30PM on Tuesday, February 10th at the Garden City Middle School. You must be a member to vote!

Please also join us at 5:00PM on Wednesday, February 11th, for Primary School’s Math and Literacy Night at Hemlock School. Be sure to stop by the Scholastic Book Fair, which will be open from 4:00PM and 7:00PM. 

Students will celebrate the 100th Day of School on Friday, February 13th, by coming to school wearing a shirt decorated with 100 items. 

Students will also celebrate Valentine’s day on Friday, February 13th. Valentine boxes and cards are due at school on Monday, February 9th for First Grade and Wednesday, February 11th for Kindergarten. 

COMMITTEE UPDATES

Health and Safety

February is Dental Awareness month and Dr. Emma will be visiting the Kindergarten classes at the end of February to speak about healthy dental care and habits.

PARP (Pick A Reading Partner)

PARP had a fantastic turnout at Spotlight on the Library on Wednesday, January 21st at the Garden City Public Library. 

SAVE THE DATE

GC PTA Annual Dinner is at 6:30PM on March 31st at the Garden City Hotel. This year’s theme is “I Belong - Just As I Am.” Not only is this event a fantastic evening out, but it raises funds for the PTA. This allows us to incorporate different events at our schools, enriching the experiences of our students.
