Homestead April 2026 Newsletter
HAPPY APRIL HOMESTEAD
We hope everyone enjoys their April break and the warmer weather. We will be back to school on Monday, April 13th with a short month!
We invite our parents and caretakers to join us on Monday, April 20th for our Spring Family Fun event with an egg-citing fossil exhibit from CSTL.
Keep an eye out for the Beautification Committee’s SUG on ways to donate for the spring season.
COMMITTEE UPDATES
PARP Week (Monday, March 2nd-Thursday, March 5th) kicked off with a virtual author visit with Susan B. Katz on Monday, March 2nd. Thank you to PARP for donating copies of Is It An Alligator Or A Crocodile? And Is It A Butterfly Or A Moth? to the Homestead library! Pictures of our winners (Kindergarten Door Decorating, 1st Grade Door Decorating, Student Bingo).
Don’t forget to mail your PARP’s Pen Pals letter by Sunday, April 19th!
The last day to purchase 2026-2027 School Supplies is Sunday, April 19th using School Code GAR054. Pick up will be available between 9:00AM-12:00PM on Saturday, June 6th at the Garden City Middle School.
Heather Forrest from Story Arts will be joining us for a songs and stories assembly on Thursday, April 24th.
Sportswear’s Spring online shop closes on Sunday, April 26th. Pick up will be available between 9:00AM-12:00PM on Saturday, June 6th at the Garden City Middle School.
GC PTA Annual Dinner was on Wednesday, March 31st at the Garden City Hotel. Thank you to everyone who donated, attended, and hopefully won a basket or auction! Fundraisers like these helped provide funding for the 1st Grade Cultural Field Trip to see the musical Dr. Seuss’ Magical Adventure at the Plaza Theater on Friday, March 20th as well as the annual Family Fun Bowling Day on Friday, March 6th after Virtual AM Parent/Teacher Conferences. They were amazing and memorable events for our students!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Joint Primary PTA Meeting and In-Person Vote at on Tuesday, March 3rd, at Locust School. We are particularly excited about the update on how the High School AP History students will be celebrating the 250th Birthday of America with our students with a living wax museum. We also have our Board of Education Meeting at 7:30PM on Wednesday, April 22th at the GCHS.
Finally, March Madness took over Garden City with Hoops for Hope on Monday, March 2nd and the Harlem Wizards at Homestead for a preview on Tuesday, March 10th and at the High School versus our district teachers on Friday, March 20th. Many of our students also participated in Rock Your Socks on Friday, March 20th celebrating World Down Syndrome Day!
We appreciate everyone who was able to attend these events and support these wonderful causes.
