Happy Spring! It's hard to believe it is April. It is so amazing to see the children’s beautiful smiles in Homestead. You can feel the happiness as you walk the hallways.
We have had a very exciting month at Homestead. The classes have been enjoying going on field trips, and parents had the opportunity to meet with the teachers at Parent Teacher Conferences. Homestead students enjoyed Rocking their Crazy Socks in support of World Down Syndrome Day, and thank you for the impressive turnout at our Joint Primary PTA meeting!
This past month, students participated in a PTA sponsored “Celebration of Dr. Seuss.” They colored in magnets, attempted to “Pin the Tie on the Cat,” and played Dr. Seuss Bingo. They had a great time! Big thanks to Daniela Saka and Kristina Vaccaro for helping to plan and run the sessions. Thank you to all the parents who came to play games with the children!
We also wanted to thank the members of the Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) committee, led by Alyssa Vitez and Hana Noble, for arranging an amazing variety of literary activities over the past 5 months culminating in March’s PARP Reading Week. Congratulations to the students who read the most reading minutes!
If you haven’t already done so, please remember to order your school supplies for NEXT school year. Please share this link with any incoming Kindergarten friends that are entering the district, and enter code GAR054 to shop. The deadline to order is April 12th.
The PTA Dinner was a huge success! We hope you all had a fun evening. Thank you to all of you who supported the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year!
On April 17th, the PTA is sponsoring a performance by Heather Forest, a storyteller/author. She will share classic folktales and will invite students to participate. It promises to be a fun morning! Thank you to Yasmine Iliya for helping to coordinate the event!
There will be a Primary Literacy and Mathematics Fun Night from 5-6pm on Tuesday, April 30th at Homestead. Parents and children are invited to attend teacher-led games and workshops designed to equip parents with strategies to support learning.
Please save the date for Homestead’s Spring Family Fun Event. On the morning of Monday, May 5th, a magician, Gary the Great, will perform for our students. The rain date for this event is Wednesday, May 15th. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
We will be having our Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 14th. Please look out for a SignUpGenius that will have ways you can support the luncheon.
As always, thank you all so very much for your support to the Garden City PTA!
Warmly,
Amy McDonough
