Garden City PTA Grant History

In the last five school years, the Garden City PTA has given nearly $225,000 in Grants to all seven schools to enhance the educational experience for students.


2020-2021: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $21,921

  • MS 2 tables, 2 benches - $2,458
  • Stewart and Stratford RedCat Audio Amplification System - $11,077
  • Stewart Blacktop Beautification and Games - $1,000
  • Stratford Recess Large Toys - $4,141
  • Locust, Homestead, Hemlock Mindfulness Games - $2,150
  • Locust, Homestead, Hemlock Mindfulness Chimes and Singing Bowls - $300
  • MS Inspirational Banners - $796


2019-2020: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $27,116

  • Stewart School Magnetic Easels - $2,520
  • K-5 Classroom Libraries - $18,675
  • MS Courtyard Benches - $5921


2018-2019: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $50,452

  • MS STEM Club Sphero Power Packs – $5,000
  • Stewart STEAM Museum - $2,590
  • HS One School One Book Refugee - $1,496
  • Hemlock wheeled totes and blocks - $1,436
  • Flexible seating and furniture K-12 - $39,929


2017-2018: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $18,324

  • Homestead Friendship Table Grant -$2,065
  • 12 Osmo bases for STEAM initiative at Locust School - $383
  • Outdoor equipment (new soccer goals for recess) at Locust School - $163
  • Two sets of KEVA wood planks to support STEAM initiatives at Homestead School - $960
  • Equipment and supplies to establish a mindfulness room at Stewart School - $725
  • KEVA wood planks to support STEAM initiatives at Locust School - $450
  • Various items for recess including soccer goals, horseshoe sets, baseball set, agility rings and a ball hoop at Hemlock School - $1,037
  • Mindfulness Professional Development, Staff Training, and Supplies for Mindfulness Space at Stratford School - $1,925
  • Naturalists Program, STEAM field trip for 3rd Graders at Stratford School - $3,555 
  • Marine Exploration Program, STEAM field trip for 5th Graders at Stratford School - $3,066
  • Ten Osmo units for use in Literacy Centers in all classrooms at Homestead School - $996
  • The Brain Challenge Show, Hollyrock Entertainment assembly for all students in grades K-5. -$3,000 


2016-2017: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $58,320

  • Makerspace in the Library Media Center, $10,000 Grant to GCHS.
  • Five Kindle eReaders for student use, $400 Grant to GCHS. 
  • One Smart Board with mobile iRover cart, $6,369 Grant to GCMS
  • Twelve EV3 Mindstorm Lego robots, $4,821 Grant to Stewart School.
  • Third Grade Science education program and field trip, $3,555 Grant to Stratford School.
  • Staff development training in mindfulness for the elementary social worker and one teacher, $900 Grant to Stratford School.
  • Co-sponsor, along with GCPS and GC SEPTA, a Ballroom Dancing Program to support inclusion and acceptance amongst peers, $2,500 Grant to Stewart and Stratford Schools.
  • One SmartBoard M680 with Projector, co-sponsored with GCPS, $2,000 Grant to Hemlock School. 
  • Six Osmo units and six iPad Airs to support GCPS Steam initiatives for all students in the school, $3,318 Grant to Hemlock School.
  • Various equipment to support GCPS STEAM initiatives for all students in the school, $1,526 Grant to Homestead School.
  • One SmartBoard M680 with Projector, co-sponsored with GCPS, $2,000 Grant to Homestead School.
  • Six Osmo units and seven iPad Airs to support GCPS Steam initiatives for all students in the school, $3,137 Grant to Locust School.
  • Books for Locust School Library, $471 Grant to Locust School.
  • Paint and supplies for US map stencil project on playground blacktop, $323 Grant to Locust School.
  • Jessica Lahey’s The Gift of Failure Community Event, $17,000 Grant to benefit GCMS and GCHS students, GCPS staff, parents and residents in October 2017. 


2015-2016: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $49,441

  • Challenge Day Co-Sponsor, High School
  • Freshman and Senior Transition Day, High School
  • Auditorium Lighting and Curtain, High School (Sponsored in part by the Garden City Friends of Music)
  • SMART Board for Science Research, High School
  • Growing Tower, Middle School
  • Little Bits and Sphero Robots, Stewart School
  • Portable PA System, Stratford School
  • Wonder Workshop Starter Pack and Launchers, Homestead School
  • Nonfiction Books for Library, Locust School
  • Game Builders Academy for third and fourth-grade classes at Stewart and Stratford Schools.
