It’s hard to believe the first month of school is already behind us. We hope your family is healthy and your children have settled into their new school routines. This year, the students are spending more time than ever outside in the Middle School courtyards. After the October 15 PTA meeting, we will be voting on a Middle School PTA grant to purchase additional tables and benches for the courtyards so more students can enjoy the outdoor space. Be sure to regularly check the Middle School website for daily announcements and the calendar along with the PTA website and social media to keep up on what is happening around our schools.
Thank you to all who attended the first Middle School PTA meeting. We hope you found the presentations helpful and informative. Please look for the draft Minutes/Notes from the meeting to be posted to the PTA website. We hope you will join us for the first All-Schools PTA Meeting of the year which will take place virtually at 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 15.
Unity Day is on Wednesday, October 21. Have your child wear orange to school to show that we are united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion!
The National PTA Reflections competition is taking place this month! The theme is “I Matter Because…” and the final deadline for entries is October 30. Have your children drop off their submissions at the school any time this month so they can participate in this district-wide & national competition. Please remember to complete the Entry Form that can be found at this link, along with details about submission requirements: https://gardencitypta.org/reflections
Our first virtual parenting workshop with Laura Campbell was a huge success. Her presentation was both informational and motivating. We are fortunate that she will be conducting monthly workshops to help support parents during this extremely challenging time. Please be on the lookout for our second session date which promises to be equally as informative. If you missed the first session, click here to view Laura Campbell’s presentation.
The first book for GC’s Shared Shelf is This is All I Got: A New Mother’s Search for Home by Lauren Sandler. The first book club session will be in early November. Please check your inbox soon for more details.
Thank you to everyone who supported our fall fundraiser and purchased Garden City Sportswear this season! Sportswear pick-up will be at the Middle School on Saturday, November 21.
Lastly, a huge thank you to our PTA Photography Chairs, Lori Madden and Ellen Bayduss, for their hard work organizing successful Photo Days at the Middle School! You should be receiving your children’s proofs later this month. If your child was absent or you would like a retake of your child’s photo, the photo make-up days are Friday, November 6 and Tuesday, November 10.
Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
We hope you have a wonderful and safe October!

We are saving a seat for you at our PTA meetings. PTA meetings provide parents with school updates from our principal and teachers, as well as from our guest speakers. The meetings are a great way to learn what is going on in and around school.
