Dear PTA Families,

The Garden City PTA Executive Committee met with central administration (as it does regularly throughout the school year) and specifically addressed recent community concerns over bullying. The PTA is not entitled to information related to private personnel or student matters.  Our mission has been and always will be to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

Currently, the district has many anti-bullying initiatives in place and provides staff training to recognize and prevent such behaviors.  In spite of the resources applied, problems and issues may still arise. In an effort to review and further improve upon the resources and programs available the district will:

  • review its curriculum and delivery of instruction on this topic

  • provide additional training to guidance counselors, school psychologists, and social workers

  • consider the possible use of anonymous reporting procedures

  • improve communication between the District and the community

  • continue its dialog with the PTA and SEPTA

The PTA will continue to meet with all building and central administration on behalf of students to address these matters and, as always, focus our efforts towards student health and well-being.

As parents, we are our children’s first teachers and their greatest role models. Educating and protecting our children is a community effort that starts at home and is reinforced in our schools.

  • talk with your children regularly, get on their devices, and learn about their friends

  • report any concerns to the teachers, guidance counselors, school psychologists and social workers, administrators, or DASA coordinators (click here)

  • attend speaker and parent information events

Please contact your PTA Director or your principal with any suggestions.  We thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration.
