Grants to Garden City Public Schools

Our grants have enhanced the educational experience for students in all seven schools. In just the past seventeen years, the Garden City PTA has granted over $430,000 to Garden City Public School and our community.

2016-2017: Membership approved PTA grants totaling $58,320.00

Makerspace in the Library Media Center, $10,000.00 Grant to GCHS.
Donated five Kindle eReaders for student use, $400 Grant to GCHS. 
One Smart Board with mobile iRover cart, $6,369.00 Grant to GCMS
Twelve (12) EV3 Mindstorm Lego robots, $4,821.00 Grant to Stewart School.
Sponsor a 3rd Grade Science education program and field trip, $3,555.00 Grant to Stratford School.
Sponsored staff development training in mindfulness for the elementary social worker and one teacher, $900.00 Grant to Stratford School.
Co-sponsor, along with GCPS and GC SEPTA, a Ballroom Dancing Program to support inclusion and acceptance amongst peers, $2,500 Grant to Stewart and Stratford Schools. This 5th Grade program will take place in the fall of 2017.
One SmartBoard M680 with Projector, co-sponsored with GCPS, $2,000.00 Grant to Hemlock School. 
Six Osmo units and six iPad Airs to support GCPS Steam initiatives for all students in the school, $3,318 Grant to Hemlock School.
Various equipment to support GCPS STEAM initiatives for all students in the school, $1,526.00 Grant to Homestead School.
One SmartBoard M680 with Projector, co-sponsored with GCPS, $2,000.00 Grant to Homestead School.
Six Osmo units and seven iPad Airs to support GCPS Steam initiatives for all students in the school, $3,137.00 Grant to Locust School.
Books for Locust School Library, $471.00 Grant to Locust School.
Paint and supplies for US map stencil project on playground blacktop, $323.00 Grant to Locust School.
Jessica Lahey's The Gift of Failure Community Event, $17,000 Grant to benefit GCMS and GCHS students, GCPS staff, and the parents and residents of the community. This program will take place October 2017.

Game Builders Academy for the third and fourth-grade classes at Stewart and Stratford schools. This program will take place during the 2016-17 school year.

Language Lab software upgrade, originally co-sponsored in 2011, High School

Museum in a Box Series at the Cradle of Aviation, Second Grade

Heart Rate Monitor System with 60 monitors for use in health and physical education programs, Middle School and High School
